Hyster electric forklift batteries need to be maintained properly or you will be replacing them sooner rather than later.

The cost for replacing your Hyster electric forklift truck batteries will be one of the more expensive components you will need to eventually replace.

Your new batteries will usually last about six hours, however over time you will notice that they will no longer hold a charge as long as the original six hours.

If this is the case, you will need to buy new forklift batteries for your Hyster forklift.  The first step in buying batteries, is to make sure that you have the right specifications on hand.

There are many different types of fork lift truck batteries available in the marketplace, therefore it is very important that you do your due diligence.

Purchasing and installing the wrong batteries can cause serious damage to your lift truck.  Forklift batteries are made out of lead acid, and common 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72 V configurations.  They also come in different capacity levels (battery amperage), along with different physical sizes.

Make sure that you check the physical size on your battery, so that you are absolutely certain it will fit in your Hyster electric forklift truck. In addition to checking the physical size, you will also need to verify the physical weight of your new electric forklift batteries.

If your new do not weigh as much compared to your OEM batteries, you will need to buy an additional lead counterweight balance.  The lead counterweight balance is very important, as it is used to maintain the original center of gravity which was intended by the engineers who created the forklift truck.

The center of gravity is very important, as it affects the handling characteristics of your forklift.  If you do not install a counterweight balance, you can adversely affect the safety aspects proper lift operation.  Having a machine with a higher center of gravity is very dangerous as it can increase your chances of forklift accidents.
