Usually you’ll pay between $40 and $120 for a new car battery, there are exceptions to this of course but usually whatever you need will fall within this price range.

My first rule of buying a car battery is to always check your vehicle’s requirements first; you need to find out what model battery your vehicle needs in order to buy one that works.  Of course if you are looking for a Hyster forklift battery the specifications may be a whole lot different.

The easiest way to do this is to visit autozone.com and use their tool to help you figure out which battery is right for the vehicle you are putting it into.

Secondly, when you’ve figured out what you need it’s time to start looking at potential retailers, beware that some gas stations may try to sell you out of date batteries so you need to be careful.  A battery that has been unused for 6 months or more will be useless to you.

To be safe buy from sears.com, they sell really fresh batteries. Finally, try to get a free installation when you buy a new battery for your car, this saves you the trouble and gives you piece of mind that a professional has installed it correctly and it won’t be damaged whilst you’re driving around.
