How To Determine The Best Laptop Battery For You

The laptop battery and the laptop battery charger are very important parts of your laptop computer. A laptop battery, like other kinds of batteries, has a limited life span.

You should not worry if the battery stops performing the way it did when it was new. What you should know is what is the best laptop battery to buy when you need a new one.

First, you should check if it is really the battery that is not working.  It may be the laptop battery charger that is malfunctioning.  The best thing to do is to test out your laptop adapter on another computer.

If no problem is present with the laptop battery charger, you may need to replace the laptop battery.  Check to see on what type of battery you have been using.  Buying the same type would ensure perfect compatibility with your laptop.

Information about the battery that you have been using is usually printed on the battery itself.  You can also see there how many cells your battery has.  The more cells the longer the battery life, but of course, the heaver it will be.

Usually, there are one or two compatible replacement battery models with your laptop.  Get the best laptop battery that you can afford.  One more thing to consider is if the battery is a Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) or Nickel Cadmium (NiCad).

Both the NiMH and the NiCad have a “memory effect” but is less pronounced on the former.  The memory effect is the harm to the battery that happens if you do not drain the battery before recharging. Though the memory effect is still being verified if true, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Li-Ion is the best laptop battery to date.  Do your best in checking if you can upgrade to a Li-Ion in getting your replacement battery.
