The Straight Talk Nokia 6790 and Nokia E71 were pretty popular phones and received good reviews when the company released them on their website and in Walmart and other locations about a year or so ago.
Later in the year, the phones were taken down from the site and for a spell Straight Talk has no smart phones in its lineup.
Now, that has changed. The Straight Talk Nokia E71 and Nokia 6790 are now both available on the website and can be purchased now to be used with the Unlimited plan the company is known for. It’s the only plan these smart phones work on.
Are Nokia’s Straight Talk Smart Phones Relevant?
Straight Talk smart phones are relevant because they represent a change in the prepaid phone industry. These days, you see more prepaid customers looking for phones that are a little bit more fun and useful than your standard basic flip phones.
Straight Talk’s Nokia 6790 is a slider CDMA phone with some cool looking styling and 3G wifi. It will do what you need the phone to do, including web browsing (and with the unlimited plan, you get to browse the web as much as you want).
If I were going to buy one of these phones today, I would probably opt for the Straight Talk Nokia E71 phone over the 6790.
It’s really just personal preference, but I find this phone to be a little bit more professional looking. It deals with email and web browsing very well and has less of a “plasticky” feel, not that the Nokia 6790 is a bad phone or anything like that.
Straight Talk also has another cool new phone, the Samsung t528g, which is a touch screen phone, but not a smart phone.
You can use either plan with this phone, which some see as a positive thing, since you have more choice month to month. And remember that none of these plans require a contract to get started. That’s the beauty of prepaid.
